January Decor Finds

Candle

This candle is so sweet, I love romantic floral scents for this time of year. as we get closer to Valentine's Day, I like to bring a little more femineity to my decor. I like to accent with pinks and creams. The doily is so nice, my mom gave it to me this last month. I thought it would be prefect to have this candle sit on top of. the doily adds the prefect dainty touch.

Tea Pot

I couldn't leave without this tea pot. I've been wanting something that I could put in the dish washer for a while now, so I'm so glad I found it! It's so tiny, it's perfect for evening teatime with my husband as we cuddle up to watch a show.

Lady with flowers

I love floral paintings, and this one has a very demure (if you will) lady. this lady invokes confidence she like yes, I bought these flowers for myself. or maybe her husband loaded her up with them, who knows but she seems to be very happy about holding this massive bouquet.

Chair and Desk

This chair and desk were a Facebook marketplace find! I loved what the previous owner did with the chair and haven't felt the need to make any changes. the desk is really a vanity, but I've been looking for a desk with this shape for a while, it does need some work so I will probably be making a post about its restoration. this is such a comfortable spot to edit and write posts!

Finding Decor

It really is a hunt! Sometimes you get lucky and other finds you don't. Especially on FB marketplace. My advice is if it's a piece you really want, ask if you can put $$ to hold the piece, that is what I had to do with the desk. There was another desk I was looking at and they had already sold it because I couldn't get back to them quick enough. I highly recommend scrolling FB marketplace and watching for sales at places like hobby lobby and Joann's. Bigger stores like Walmart and Target to me a bit mainstream and have fewer unique pieces, but when you love an item jump on it!

So, it may not be nice, but you can say: can I Venmo you to hold? Just to get their attention, then take your time getting the Venmo to them so you can think a bit more. It is ok to say: sorry, I changed my mind, thank you for your time!

Homes are meant to be collections of your favorite pieces. This takes time, and patience. I think homes that are carefully decorated show far more personality and a sense confidence. on the other hand, homes that have a feeling of frustration you can tell things were bought with the idea on just filling the space, a certain impulsivity. so practicing restraint when hunting for pieces for your home is so important. I highly recommend sitting on things and taking your time, I personally don't like shopping in stores, because they are really trying to manipulate you into thinking of a new lifestyle if you have this thing. Because really buying a thing is not going to change lifestyle, and item should add to the lifestyle you want.  Until next time, see ya!
